analogous reaction was attempted with 2-(1-piperidine)-cyclopentanone (2) and piperidine, only cis-and trans-2-(1-piperidino) cyclopentanol were obtained. It was then decided to prepare separately and purify cyclic amino enamines in the hope that such compounds would undergo catalytic hydrogenation from the unhindered side to render the desired cis- diamines.
