The asymmetric reduction with the bis (NAH) reductants 8-13 was carried out in a mixture of dry acetonitrile h bis (NA+) 2: n. 4 5: n. 7 3: n. 5 6: n. 8 4: n= 6 7: n-9 8: n. 4 11: n. 7 9: 17.5 12: n= 8 10: n. 6 13: n. 9 and dry chloroform in the presence of equimolar amounts of anhydrous magnesium perchlorate and the substrate at room temperature or at 50" C for 17- 96 h in the dark.
