Abstract In continuation of our work aimed towards the preparation of novel aldose reductase inhibitors, several O-substituted hydroxyphenylacetic acid derivatives were investigated. The highest inhibitory activity was found for compounds 7b and 7c bearing a cyclohexylmethyl substituent.
