Summary 1. Chloral and butyl chloral react normally with 2-thienylmagnesium bromide. 2. The secondary alcohols trichloromethyl-2-thienylcarbinol and 2, 2, 3-trichloro-1-(2-thienyl)-l- butanol have been synthesized via the Grignard reaction. The acetates and benzoates of these carbinols have been prepared.
