Abstract A series of small-sized model π-conjugated oligomers have been prepared from thienylene and phenylene or dimethyl-or dimethoxy-substituted phenylene units. Crystallographic data for the methoxylated compound show a quasi-planar conformation with a non-covalent S–O interaction.
