4, 4'-Bis (hydroxymethyl) tetrathiafulvalene. To a stirred slurry of 6.5 g (0.0256 mol) of lithium tri-tert-butoxyaluminum hydride and 30 ml of tetrahydrofuran under nitrogen cooled to-78 OC was added 1.81 g (0.00555 mol) of tetrathiafulvalenedicarbonyl chloride.
