The improved synthesis and chemistry of the acidic bis (perfluoroalkylsulfonyl) methanes, R&3O&HaSO~ lt~, and related disulfones are described. New substituted p-disulfones, eg, olefins, alcohols, and halo disulfones, we provided by various organometallic reactions, alkylations, and halogenations of the methylene disulfones or derivatives. Free-radical reactions of the bromo disulfones, CFaS0zCBrXSOzCF3 (X= Br and H), are also reported.
