C, 66.7; H, 4.71. 3-(a-Acetonylbenzyl)-4-methoxycoumarin (XV).-To a stirred benzene solution of 0.015 mole of dimethylcadmium8 was added 2.7 g.(0.015 mole) of XIV. The mixture was refluxed 15 min. and poured into 100 ml. of 5% hydrochloric acid and 50 ml. of ethyl acetate.
