1-Azaphenothiazine has been prepared via the Smiles rearrangement of 2'-(3-nitro-2- pyridylthio)-aceta1iilidc. 8-Chloro-lazaphenothiazine was prepared similarly from 5'-chloro- 2'-(3-nitropyridylthio)-acetanilide. Reaction between these two azaphenothiazine derivatives and various dialkylaminoalkyl chlorides in xylene, using sodamide as the condensing agent, led to a series of 10-dialkylaminoalkyl derivatives, which were converted to mono-and ...
