Abstract Silver bromide catalyzes Barbier-type allylation of aldehydes and ketones using unactivated manganese powder. Aliphatic and aromatic aldehydes and ketones react, and aryl chlorides, nitriles, electron-donating and electron-withdrawing groups are tolerated.
