Résumé A simple, efficient approach of racemic cis chrysanthemic acid 2, an intermediate in the synthesis of the exceptionally potent insecticide Deltamethrine 1, is described. The key- intermediate of this approach was the 2, 2, 5, 5-tetramethylcyclohexane 1, 4-dione 5 which has been related to the lactone 3, a precursor of 2, in four steps (70% overall yield).
