摘要

In the first stage of the reaction one molecular equivalent of the alcohol reacts with one of resorcinol, and a diphenylmethane derivative (I) is formed by the elimination of one molecule of water. This diphenylmethane derivative is then oxidized to a benzohydrol (11) which reacts with a second equivalent of resorcinol and gives rise to Product 111.
