Abstract: Cyclobutylcarbinyl alcohols of the bicyclo [3.2. 0] heptane ring system are produced by UV irradiation of a-, 0-, and y-alkenylallyl alcohols in the presence of copper (1) trifluoromethanesulfonate (CuOTf). endo-2-Hydroxy epimers of bicyclo [3.2. 0] heptan-2-oIs are generated stereoselectively.
