Abstract The 13 C NMR signals for some 2-ethylthio-, 2-ethylsulphinyl-and 2-ethylsulphonyl- 4′-substituted acetophenones were assigned. The carbonyl carbons exhibit a progressive upfield shift on going from the ketosulphides to the ketosulphoxides and to the ketosulphones.
