The intermediate methyl chlorostyrenyl sulfide could not be obtained in a highly purified state. Four isomeric structures are possible (cis, trans, a-chloro,@-chloro) and in some samples four methyl singlets in pmr could be detected although one singlet greatly predominated (2.41 ppm).
