Summary We have described the preparation of dimethyldiphenyl-p-phenylenediamine, and its identity was proved by the fact that we obtained the same compound by three different methods. On oxidation it shows the same characteristics as the corresponding benzidine derivative, dimethyldiphenylbenzidine. We have also carried out two new syntheses of this dimethyldiphenylbenzidine.
