A novel series of cyclic potent, selective, small molecule, thiol-based inhibitors of activated thrombin activatable fibrinolysis inhibitor (TAFIa) and the crystal structures of TAFIa inhibitors bound to porcine pancreatic carboxypeptidase B are described.
