The structure (Fig. 1, arbitrary numbering) shows an essentially planar system, as indicated by the torsional angles C3---C4 N1--C7 and C5--C4---NI--C8 in Table 1. This might be expected to reflect the usual conjugation between an amino lone pair and an aromatic ring.
