Abstract A homologous series of polynuclear compounds containing chlorine were prepared starting from 4-tert-Butylphenol, its halogenated derivatives and formaldehyde. The polynuclear compounds did not contain higher molecular weight byproducts. This was performed by blocking the remaining reactive positions with chlorine.
