Two new hypohalites, perfluoro-n-butanesulfonyl hypochlorite and hypobromite, are reported. The hypochlorite is prepared by the low-temperature reaction of ClF with the acid C4F&O20H. The hypobromite is prepared by reaction of the hypochlorite with bromine.
