Abstract 8-Hydroxyquinoline-7-carboxaldehyde (8-HQ-7-CA), Schiff-base ligand 8- hydroxyquinoline-7-carboxaldehyde benzoylhydrazone, and binuclear complexes [LnL (NO 3)(H 2 O) 2] 2 were prepared from the ligand and equivalent molar amounts of Ln (NO 3)⋅ 6 H 2 O (Ln= La 3+, Nd 3+, Sm 3+, Eu 3+, Gd 3+, Dy 3+, Ho 3+, Er 3+, Yb 3+, resp.).
