In connection with the study of the rates of alkaline hydrolysis of acetates of branched alcohols in the accompanying paper it was necessary to prepare the required esters. This paper describes the methods of preparation and properties of the necessary compounds. All of the primary alcohols were prepared by the reduction of acids or esters with lithium aluminum hydride.
