2-+ 1+ 2+ 3+ 4+...(1) of the products at equilibrium occur in the order 1> 2> 3> 4>.,..'When a second phenol is present during the redistribution of 2, a coequilibration may occur in addition to reaction 1 and a second series of products can result (reaction 2).
