The reactions of the acylmetal complexes trans-[M (PPh3), C1 (RCO)] where M is Pt or Pd and R is CH3, C6H5CHz, or C6H5 with the halogens (X,) chlorine, bromine, or iodine yield the carboxylic acid halides RCOX.
