摘要

Inver igations of iodine-induced cyclizations of y, h-olefinic benzyl ethers have led to highly substitute1 tetrahyl rofurans from acyclic precursors with excellent stereochemical control. Our studies have afforded total syntheses of two fungal metabolites,(f)-citreoviral (7) and (*)- citreoviridin (I), which itself, is a potent, specific inhibitor of mitochondrial F1-ATP synthetase.
