Abstract: truns-2, 3-Bis (trimethylsilyl) thiirane (1) has been synthesized in two steps from trans-l, 2-bis (trimethylsilyI) ethene by addition of thiocyanogen followed by treatment of the adduct with sodium borohydride or lithium aluminum hydride. In the latter case minor products include mem-1, 2-bis (trimethylsilyl) ethane-l, 2-dithiol and 1, 2-bis (trimethylsilyl) ethanethiol.
