Abstract: FMMF calculations for I9F SCS in the 10-substituted 9-fluoroanthracenes and 4- substituted 3, 5-dimethylfluorobenzenes are reported. The analysis strongly supports the idea that polar effects on I9F chemical shifts are enhanced when the fluorine atom is attached to a carbon atom which is part of a R system.
