Abstract The main pigments of Brevibacterium linens are the aromatic carotenoids 3, 3′- dihydroxyisorenieratene (φ, φ-carotene-3, 3′-diol), the corresponding monohydroxy compound, and the hydrocarbon isorenieratene.
