A targeted series of phenolic Mannich bases of benzaldehyde and (thio) semicarbazone derivatives were synthesized and evaluated in vitro against the malarial cysteine protease falcipain-2 and a chloroquine resistant strain (W2) of Plasmodium falciparum.
