摘要

Abstract The syntheses of α, α'-diphenylpyridylazidomethanes are reported and the thermal and photochemical rearrangements of these azides are studied. For the thermolysis and photolysis of these azides a step by step mechanism is proposed. The differences between thermolysis and photolysis should come from the nature of the nitrenoide state involved; the 1 Δ electrophilic state in thermolysis and the less selective 1 σ diradical state in photolysis.
