In this paper, we reported the synthesis of a new family of thermal stable Mn-doped DyInO3 blue pigment materials. All of the samples were synthesized by a conventional solid state method. Powder x-ray diffraction refinement results showed that the structures of the as-prepared materials were hexagonal (space group: P63cm), and their cell parameters decreased with Mn content improving. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) showed that the particle size can be directly used for coating. Infrared (IR) and Raman spectra show the presence of random disorder and structural modifications without phase transition. Diffuse reflection spectra were obtained over the range of wavelength 200–2500 nm indicated the blue color is caused by the allowed DMSO-d6 transition. All the samples show excellent near-infrared reflectance which means lower heat build-up. Temperature-dependent color and UV-vis spectra indicated that a continuous structural evolution accompanied by the allowed DMSO-d6 transition. Thus, this paper provides a family of new thermal stable blue pigment for potential applications.
