N-Alkyl-N-methylanilines. One feature of both mechanistic and synthetic interest in the reaction of 1 with anilines was its selectivity. There are two aspects to this selectivity. Does the reagent show a selectivity between alkyl groups on the same nitrogen, and does it show a selectivity between differently substituted nitrogens?
