The antitumorigenic activity of meso-N,N-dimethylaminomethyletioporphyrin-I (I), has been described in the literature. In experiments in vitro [2, 8] and in vivo [6, 7], this compound was found to be effective when administered both before and after irradiation of the materials studied. It was therefore considered to be useful to study the influence of the structure of the meso-substituent in analogous compounds on their biological activity.
