In two recent communications, Bolliger and Muchowski2 and DeKoning and co-workers3 reported the synthesis of 11-deoxy-8-ma-PGEl.. A similar route to that of Bollinger and Muchowski has also been reported in a patent by Himizu and co-~ orkers.~ We would like to report herein an alternative synthetic sequence to 8-aza-PGE1 (8a) and 8-aza-15-epi-PGEl (8b) as outlined in Scheme I.
