Abstract The α-oximino dicarboxylic dimethyl esters of C 7 and C 9 and the α, α′-dioximino azelaic acid dimethyl ester are received from the corresponding α-bromo esters by reaction with sodium nitrite. α-Methyladipic acid is reacted with bromine to a mixture of the α-bromo and α′-bromo ester. Reaction with sodium nitrite gives the α-nitro ester and the α′- oximino ester of α-methyl adipic acid.
