By W. GERRARD, A. NECHVATAL, and BARBARA M. WILSON. ten!.-Butylcarbinol (neopentyl alcohol) interacts readily with thionyl and phosphorus chlorides, thereby forming the chloro-esters, RO-SOCI and RO* PCI,. In an ethereal solution containing pyridine, thionyl
