Abstract A series of new polyhalogenated benzimidazoles has been synthesized and their antibacterial and antiprotozoal activity was evaluated. Several of new substituted halogenobenzimidazoles and their 2′-deoxynucleosides showed noteworthy antiprotozoal toxicity particularly against Giardia lamblia.
