Abstract Reaction of sodium salt of 4-(3-hydroxypropyl) pyridine (I) with diisopropyl p- toluenesulfonyloxymethanephosphonate (II) afforded diisopropyl ester of the corresponding phosphonomethyl derivative (III), together with 4-cyclopropylpyridine (IV).
