Baker and Hawkins nificantly alter the [" ID values, indicating that these molecules are indeed resistant to base-promoted racemization, at least in the hydrated state. Attempts to examine the enantiomeric aldehydes in the presence of the chiral shift reagent tris [3- [(trifluoromethy1) hydroxy-methylene)]-(+)-camphorato] europuim (III) failed to resolve any racemic compounds.
