Abstract Rate constants for a wide range of binary aqueous mixtures and product selectivities (S) in ethanol–water (EW) and methanol–water (MW) mixtures, are reported at 25 C for solvolyses of benzenesulfonyl chloride and the 4-chloro-derivative.
