Biological Activity

[Description]:

Capsiate, as a capsaicin analogue extracted from a non-pungent cultivar of CH-19 sweet red pepper, is an orally active agonist of TRPV1[1].

[Target]

TRPV1

[In Vitro]

Capsiate evokes current responses in HEK293 cells expressing TRPV1[1].

[In Vivo]

Capsiate does not exhibit irritancy-related effects on the oral cavity or eye[1]. Capsiate (0.03~0.54 mM; s.c.) induces nociceptive responses in mice[1]. Animal Model: Male ddY-strain mice (20–24 g) [1] Dosage: 0.5 or 5 mM Administration: P.o. Result: Did not cause pungency-related behaviors.
