三氯化铽制备

由Tb(OH)3与盐酸反应，然后将水溶液蒸发、浓缩、冷却析出六水合物。为避免加热脱水过程中发生水解作用，可采用在有氯化铵存在下的真空加热脱水法脱去结晶水。加氯化铵的目的在于使脱水过程中产生的TbOCl被氯化铵氯化：

TbOCl+2NH4Cl△TbCl3+2NH3↑+H2O↑

氯化铵的加入量为结晶料的30%，二者混匀后，在300℃下烘干制成半脱水料，再送入脱水炉内进行真空加热脱水。升温、保温分几个阶段：室温→100℃→120℃→155℃→200℃。各阶段保温时间视料量而定。升温速度不宜过快，否则会产生水解产物。脱水过程中，脱水炉内真空度应保持不低于66.7Pa，最终脱水温度应达到350℃。最终产品中含8%～10%的TbOCl和5%的H2O,最佳产品可含2%～3%的TbOCl和05%的H2O。
