Production method
The synthesis of triethylene glycol diisocyanate is carried out in two steps. The first step is to generate triethylene glycol monoisooctanoate from one molecule of triethylene glycol and one molecule of isooctanoic acid under the action of a catalyst; The second step is to react one molecule of triethylene glycol monoisooctanoic acid ester with one molecule of isooctanoic acid to produce triethylene glycol diisooctanoic acid ester. This reaction is a typical esterification dehydration reaction.
Product application
This product is a solvent based cold resistant and environmentally friendly plasticizer, which has excellent low temperature resistance, durability, oil resistance, UV radiation resistance, and anti-static properties. It also has low viscosity and certain lubricity. This product is a special plasticizer for polyvinyl butyral (PVB safety glass) and synthetic rubber, which can produce low-temperature performance and low volatility. It can also be used as a plasticizer for polyester fabrics, adhesives, and sealing materials, such as PVC, PS, ethyl cellulose, and nitrocellulose. When used for polyvinyl butyral cloth based coatings containing castor oil, it can improve the flexibility under severe cold conditions. Also used in the formulation of butadiene acrylonitrile oil resistant synthetic rubber and polyethylene latex paint, the general dosage is lower than that of dioctyl phthalate or triphenyl phosphate. Soluble in many organic solvents, but insoluble in mineral oils.
