Biological Activity

[Description]:

Pedaliin is a bioactive component obtained from the ethanol extract of Sesame (Sesamum indicum L.) leaves (SLs). Pedaliin shows in vitro antioxidant and anti-colon cancer efficacy with radical scavenging activity and ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP)[1][2].

[In Vitro]

Pedaliin (0-35 μM; 72 h) dose-dependently attenuates the growth of human colon cancer cells, HT29 and HCT116[1]. Pedaliin (3.5-35 μM; 30 min; 37 ℃) has ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP)[1]. Pedaliin (7 μM; 48 h) alleviates invasion and migration of HT29 and HCT116 cells in non-cytotoxic conditions[1]. Pedaliin (20 μL) shows high 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging, oxygen radical absorbance capacity (ORAC), and in vitro antiglycation activities, and inhibits BSA glycation with an IC50 value of 41.8 μM[2]. Cell Viability Assay[1] Cell Line: HCT116 cells Concentration: 0, 3.5, 7, 17.5, and 35 μM Incubation Time: 48 hours or 72 hours Result: Inhibited cell growth (72 h) by 24% at 3.5-35 µM, invasion (48 h) by 18% at 7 µM, and migration (48 h) by 33% at 7 µM.
