Abstract

Although the Willgerodt reaction in one or more of its various forms has been carried out on halogen-s~ bstituted,~~~ J a~ koxyl-~ ubstituted,~~~ 6, 7 and alkylmercapto-substituted aromatic aliphatic ketones, 4 there have been no reports of its application to aralkyl ketones in which the aryl group is substituted by hydroxy-, 8 amino-, or nitro-groups.
