Abstract

2598 WILLIAM M. ZIEGLER AND RALPH CONNOR Vol. 62 weighed 248 g.(92%), mp 177- 179". Recrystallization from alcohol-acetic acid (3: 1) gave pure l, 2-di-n-butylsulfonylethane melting at 180-181'. I7 To 172 g. of the crude disulfone in 360 ml. of 50% alcohol was added 175 g. of potassium cyanide and the mixture refluxed for twenty-four hours. About 185 ml. of solvent was removed by distillation, the residue diluted with 200 ml. of water and 480 ml. ...
