Abstract

Despite the synthetic usefulness of radical cyclization reactions,'the cyclization pathway is mainly limited to 5-exo closure along with somewhat less efficient 6-ex0 and 6-endo closure due to stereoelectronic and geometric reasons. 2 A fundamentally new approach for the formation of five-and six-membered-ring radicals from acyclic precursors was sought, and we report here an un-precedented radical cyclization using 2-phenyl-N-aziridinyl imines ...
