Abstract

Summary As a step toward a proof of the location of the ethanamine chain in the morphine alkaloids, 3, 4-dimethoxy-5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 13, 14-octahydrophen-anthrene-13-carboxylic acid has been synthesized for comparison with a possible degradation product of the alkaloids.
