Abstract
Reactions of organoborates with carbonyl compounds are considered to be similar to those of Grignard reagents. Various organoborates have been found to react smoothly with acyl halides to form the corresponding ketone^.^^^ The reactions are not complicated by the concomitant formation of tertiary alcohols, which are usually obtained in the reaction of acyl halides with alkylmagnesium halides or alkyllithiums.
