Abstract The value of several reagents capable of removing quantitatively the α-amino protecting group of NPS-aminoacyl-or peptidyl-derivatives is assessed, by comparison with the reagents currently used, ie hydrogen chloride, RS–-nucleophiles or alkyl thioamides,
